READY TO MAKE AN IMPACT?
At Camp Chaparral, Summer Staffers are more than just employees. They help cultivate an environment where campers get to hear about Jesus, and for some campers, this is the only chance they’ll have to hear the gospel. Being a Summer Staffer is about more than just the paycheck– it’s a mission opportunity.
Camp isn’t just a life-changing experience for our guests, but we hope that it is a life-changing experience for our Summer Staff as well! Our desire is that once Summer Staffers leave the camp, they can say that they’ve grown spiritually, built Christ-centered community, and that they’ve had a lot of fun!
If you are a college-aged young adult who is looking for an unforgettable summer gig, consider applying to be a Summer Staffer. You won’t regret it! Contact Lauryn at lauryn@campchaparral.org or (940) 855-4182 ext. 5 for any questions.
SOME RESPONSIBILITIES YOU MAY HAVE:
-
Our lifeguards are responsible for enforcing pool rules and policies, keeping watch for swimmers in distress, responding to emergencies in the water quickly, and maintaining the cleanliness of the water areas. Camp Chaparral will pay for any applicants’ certification if they are interested in becoming a lifeguard.
-
In this role, Summer Staffers will essentially be floaters, being put anywhere they may be needed each day during campers’ free time, such as Archery Tag, the ropes course, the Sugar Shack, and more!
-
Those who are working in the kitchen will be responsible for assisting our Food Service Manager in preparing meals, serving meals, and cleaning up after meals.
-
Staff in this role will assist our Housekeeper with keeping up with the cleanliness of our buildings each week. They will help out by cleaning hotel rooms, cabins, meeting spaces, bathrooms, and more.
-
The possibilities are endless! You may find yourself snapping photos of campers for our social media, refilling water jugs to keep campers hydrated, selling T-shirts in the Green Barn, and more!

Is this a paid gig?
While we will never turn down help from volunteers, Summer Staffers are paid up to $400 per week. Staffers can chose to pocket this money, or they can opt to use it as a scholarship at the university they are attending. Select universities (such as DBU, ETBU, etc.) will match the scholarship we offer, so they will essentially be putting double the money towards their education!
Will I have a place to stay if I work at Camp Chaparral this summer?
Yes! As a member of the team, we will provide you with free room and board on our grounds in addition to your weekly paycheck.
Do I have to work the entire summer?
Nope! Summer Staffers have the option of choosing to serve for the entire summer (8-10 weeks), just the month of June, or just the month of July. However, all Staffers will be required to attend a training week at the end of May.
